All through the summer there are friends, acquaintances and new guests camping-out and enjoying a vacation here along the Sturgeon River. It is a wonderful thing to be able to share this space with those who also appreciate likemindedness, clean flowing water, woodlands, trails, animals and the natural beauty of northern Ontario.
The development of our property has been organic, a labour of love over a long period, with the work of many who’ve spent hours/days/weeks/months/years helping us create a place that is family-friendly, beneficial to the environment, and unique.
Both Chris and Julie work at Fishers’ Paradise doing whatever needs doing – hauling wood, fixing things, building, helping campers etc… On top of raising our children, looking after an aging parent, and household/guest house/cabin maintenance, Chris is a Councilor for our Municipality and a volunteer firefighter. Julie volunteers on a few local committees and works in Closed Captioning and Canada Post.
We would love to drop everything and hang out at the beach and campfires with all of you (and sometimes we do just that!) More times than not, when all is done and dusted, we are crashed on the couch with our cats LOL (however, our dogs love to hang out with campers at their campfires). It is always appreciated when campers are independent and comfortable finding their firewood, water, or starting the sauna, as we are not always about the property.
Everything we do is because we love living here – but rarely if ever do we get a vacation. No complaints, it’s a lifestyle we chose! And, this lifestyle requires multitasking and adaptability to quickly switch between various responsibilities.
All of this is to say, thank you for choosing here for your vacation, for being part of a larger ideal, for sustainable camping practices, and for understanding the different parts we all play in making this place what it is – Because without you, it would never be the piece of paradise that it is!
