This season we’ve had a lot more solo campers, some who’ve mastered it, tenting far back from the main camping area, and some just learning, choosing sites that are closer to ‘civilization’. Either way, it’s amazing to see people appreciating nature, fully attentive, aware, and prepared.
Fishers’ Paradise is the perfect place to try solo camping because if something happens where help is needed, we are here to assist and guide. Our dogs are also watchful of solo campers, checking up on them periodically –
Freckles, the Australian Shepherd, sometimes takes it upon himself to adopt certain campers, becoming a companion throughout their stay. We’ve heard many stories from people who were insecure at the beginning of their visit, only to have Freckles support them and boost their confidence as time passed.
Hodor, our Great Pyrenees, uses his innate ability to suss out wild animals, keeping them at bay – He enjoys his job! This stems from his breed as a livestock guardian, expected to keep watch over the flock, making his own decisions about friends and foes and appropriate actions. We appreciate him for that, and so much more.
It is a pleasure for us to be custodians of a space where people can get away from the noise and pressure of everyday life. It is the reason we do what we do. Our collective experiences and abilities are here to encourage you to get outside for an extended trip, among the trees, fresh-flowing water, flora, and fauna…
By the way, if you don’t want to invest in a tent and gear to try camping, the Glamp-tents are already set (built by our friends at R&S!), you can move right in to see if you like it before buying camping equipment.
If you’ve ever thought about solo camping, come on out. You will not be disappointed!
