As most of you know, we are open all year round. Usually the Guest House, Cabin and Winter Glamp Tent are the go-to spots for visitors who enjoy the outdoors during the off-season, with crackling fires in the woodstoves, crisp air, and walks about the trails without seeing anyone, save some wildlife and falling leaves.
In a tent, the fragrance of fall completely envelops you. The vibrant tree colours meet the sunshine in a wide array. The sparkling stars are illuminated brightly through the colder atmosphere. Sleep is long and sweet in the silent night. And of course, refreshing river dips in-between steamy saunas are enlivening!
Silent paddles in the canoe, long fireside chats while you’re wrapped in cozy clothes and cooking up some fondue, chili, hot chocolate, or s’mores, feel a little more relaxed during this time of year.
Here is a packing list for Autumn Camping, to make sure you are prepared for a full outdoor experience from September through October and even into November!
- Base-layer clothing made of light/breathable fabric that keeps your core insulated and warm (like polyester/wool/fleece) – stay away from cotton for this layer as it will absorb sweat and make you colder.
- Mid-layer clothing can be cotton, fleece, wool, or down sweaters.
- Outer-layers are waterproof and wind-resistant jackets. Toques, gloves, and a few pairs of warm socks!
- Hiking boots, rain boots, and sneakers will all be used at various times.
- A good cold-tolerant sleeping bag and sleeping pad or air mattress to keep you above the cold ground.
- Extra blankets.
- A rain-fly and tarps.
- Plastic bags and a first-aid kit.
